Form 1120-X — Tax Paid, Exemptions, Credits, and Deductions Return of
The filing of Form 1120 or any equivalent return for that type of tax liability is for the sole purpose of assessing income tax liability against taxpayers and collecting tax owed, or to request payment, of such tax. A return filed not for that purpose is an improper return. Form 1120-X — Tax Paid, Exemptions, Credits, and Deductions Return of information or tax payment (Form 1120-X) is used by employees, employers, and contractors to determine tax owed, whether the filer has paid that tax, whether the filer has any exempt benefits under section 170, and whether there are any credits available to the filer for the tax year. The taxpayer must complete this return and file it with his or her return. Any taxpayer, including an individual who is engaged as a contractor or an independent contractor, who received any exemption certificate, advance refund, payment from a credit system, or payments under a contract may be required to complete the tax return and file it with his or her return. The taxpayer must provide or furnish the required information and pay the tax by the due date. Form 1040 — Estimated Tax Return The completed Form 1040, Estimated Tax Return, is prepared and filled by an accountant, with the assistance of a tax practitioner, or by an attorney or other agent for an individual who is filing a return for the first time since January 1, 1976, or who is a joint return filer or a surviving spouse who is filing a joint return because of a decedent filing a joint.
